If you were hoping to continue rocking out to Green Day with DLC, you’re going to be disappointed. It was just announced that there will be no additional DLC whatsoever for Green Day: Rock Band.

Harmonix explains why there won’t be any Green Day DLC but there was for The Beatles:

“One of the reasons we could do open-ended DLC for The Beatles is that it’s all tiny clips, and we could just reconfigure them for different songs as needed — and dreamscape backgrounds similarly had that.

With this, we’re really creating sculpted experiences for every single song; there’s an animation that plays all the way through, pretty much. That’s something that’s not really practical to do open-ended. So we decided we were going to make DLC just about finishing 21st Century Breakdown, using the DLC that was already out.

That created a great three-album game, and also let us give each of those [six DLC tracks] unique assets, more than we could easily pack into a DLC pack. Those songs have their own video-wall assets, their own [motion capture].”

Bummer.

It was recently announced by both MTV Games and Harmonix that The Beatles: RockBand will in fact be getting two custom made guitar controllers to coincide with the games launch.

Modeled after the RickenBacker 325 and Gretsch Duo Jet which were played by members of The Beatles, these two controllers will sell for $100 a piece and be available when the game is.

Furthermore, you can pre-order the game now and get access to the “The Beatles: RockBand Pre-Order club” and get access to “breaking news and access to exclusive game elements including art and behind-the-scenes footage prior to the game’s release”.

The Wii version of Rockband has been playing catch-up with the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 for some time now, and this week that gap gets a bit smaller.

6 new songs (to the Wii at least) have been added at 200 Wii Points a peice:

  • “Attack” – 30 Seconds to Mars
  • “Gimme Three Steps” – Lynrd Skynrd
  • “Live Forever” – Oasis
  • “Just What I needed” – The Cars
  • “Siva” – Smashing Pumpkins
  • “Tell Me Baby” – Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Maybe by the time Rockband 3 is out the Wii Rockband will have the full song list featured in it’s Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts. We can only hope…

With games like Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero 4 on the horizon, it only makes sense that Rock Band would get a price cut right? Well, in Europe at least.

It was recently announced that the UK version of the Rockband instrument bundle will be getting it’s price decreased from £130/€170 to £110/€140. Then again, those numbers convert to $240 and $197.

Looks like us Americans have the upperhand afterall!
