Serious Sam developer CroTeam has released the first time/screenshot of the upcoming Serious Sam 3. According to the developer, the image shows a new enemy called “Scrapjack”. You can find a big version on the team’s Facebook page here.

A few more details have been released, including a co-op feature where up to 16 players can play the campaign together. Finally, the game will be officially titled “Serious Sam 3: BFE”. We dunno what BFE stands for, but I’m sure we’ll find out very soon.

While the recent releases of Serious Sam HD brought back old memories of classic shooters, Destructoid asked CroTeam about the third game in the series, and lucily, they got a decent answer from CroTeam’s Roman Ribaric, who said;

“Serious Sam 3 is happening for sure, it is currently planned to be finished in 2010.”

The game was revealed to be in development a while ago, but a released date was never put on the title. Now, at least we have an estimate: 2010.

If Duke Nukem had a brother, it’d probably be Serious Sam. Croatian developer Croteam has reminded fans (and everyone else) on the official site that they’re still working on the third installment of the shooter series, adding that the team is “pretty close to signing a publishing deal”.

Serious Sam was first released in 2000, and won several awards, including Game of The Year from GameSpot. The sequel, Serious Sam – The Second Encounter, was released in 2002 on several platforms.
