Normally when an accessory manufacturer releases a gun peripheral for any console it works through light detection. This new gun peripheral by XCM called Fire is quite different and is only compatible for the PS3. Why? Well, because it uses the same SIXAXIS technology found in the Dual Shock 3 controllers.

In other words, it senses motion like the Wii controller which will definitely make some of you cower in fear. However, based on the above video demonstration its functionality doesn’t look half bad.

No word on when the gun will be ready for consumers but it’s apparently 70% done so far.

Sure, you can plug your Playstation 3 controller into the console for some quick charging action but let’s be honest, it’s no match against the 360′s Play-and-Charge kit.

Sony, however, has just brought a new option to the table. Let’s say your sitting 10 feet away from your TV, next to a power outlet, and your controller needs a juice up. Enter Sony’s SIXAXIS/Dual Shock 3 AC adapter which allows you to charge a controller using any standard power outlet, something that could come in handy given the circumstances. That’s not all though, this AC adapter includes 2 USB ports, so you can keep not 1 but 2 PS3 controllers juiced up and ready to play at once.

Engadget reports that come December 18th, this thing will go on sale in Japan for a bit under $30 unfortunately, at this time, there is no word on avaliability elsewhere. We’ll keep you posted.
