Tony Hawk is without a doubt the biggest name in skateboarding despite being retired for quite some time. However, when it comes to the video game world the Tony Hawk video games haven’t been doing so hot as of late. They lived harmoniously with one another for quite some time before EA came forth to debut their skate video game. Following that Tony Hawk took his video games in another direction with Tony Hawk: Ride which features a skateboard peripheral but unfortunately failed to take off receiving negative reception across the board.

Well, it seems that Hawk isn’t out of the game just yet as rumors have surfaced today that say a new Tony Hawk game is set to hit store shelves next year. News apparently comes from an interview with Tony Hawk who says that his new game will “probably” be out sometime next year. Unfortunately we don’t have any more information

When Activision first announced that Tony Hawk Ride would feature a bundled skateboard controller, gamers everywhere rolled their eyes and pictured the peripheral collecting dust next to their Rock Band drums.

Well, according to Robomodo’s president, Joshua Tsui, you might want to keep the skateboard dusted off a bit longer:

It’s really important to us that when people buy this package that they understand that, right now we’re concentrating on Tony Hawk Ride, but we want to make sure that people have a good return on their investment so there are many games that are planned for this peripheral. We look at it less as a peripheral, as more of a platform. The obvious ones are snowboarding and surfing and such, but there are a lot of games that can be used with this board, and we’re really excited to start working on those.

Tony Hawk Ride will be released for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii later this year.

Thanks to GameStop we now know that the latest addition to the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series, Tony Hawk: Ride, will be hitting store shelves on October 13th for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii.

Furthermore, the game will come bundled with the skateboard peripheral that everyone has been talking with a price point of $119.99.

Of course, this date is subject to change as GameStop has a tendancy to do that but when Tony Hawk: Ride does drop the skateboard genre will never be the same. That is, if the developers deliver because EA’s skate is sure to put up a fight to the grave.
