Halo is one of the most popular FPS franchises currently on the market. If you have an Xbox 360 you’re sure to know that there are currently 4 different titles on the market starting with Halo: CE and ending with Halo: Reach. However, if you’re been paying attention to the news you’ll also probably know that there are two more titles coming out dubbed Halo: Anniversary Edition and Halo 4.
Halo 4 is pretty self explanatory but Halo: Anniversary Edition may be a bit more puzzling to those who aren’t familiar with the game. In the shortest way possible, Halo: Anniversary Edition is a remade version of Halo: CE. But, before you get too upset, make note that the game is essentially the exact same game but with updated graphics and the ability to play online co-op. Yes, I know, it’s a bummer that they didn’t put online multiplayer into the game but what would be the point of Halo 4 if they did, am I right?
Anyways, we’ve heard quite a bit about the Anniversary Edition with even more coming out just about everyday. The latest news is that the original Halo soundtrack will be remade in its entirety for the new game. Pretty awesome and it’s sure to be a nostalgic day when Halo: Anniversary Edition drops on November 14th of this year.

The Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack has yet to be announced in the United States but already Square Enix is speaking of a somewhat collector’s edition for Japan. By collector’s edition I mean that 8 songs from Final Fantasy XIII will appear on a 12-inch vinyl record, old school style.
The records, entitled W/F: Music from Final Fantasy XIII are apparently very limited in production and importer NCSX has already sold out of them. There’s no word if we will see this limited edition release in the US with the actual soundtrack but chances are we won’t.

Yes, you read right: the soundtrack for Final Fantasy 13 will not only be out on CD and MP3, but also on vinyl, for all the audiophiles out there. However, publisher Square Enix has only announced the soundtrack and the vinyl for Japan — there’s no word whether it’ll be out in the West.
Hand Zimmer, the soundtrack master who’s done countless movies over the past few decades, ventured into game soundtracks with Modern Warfare 2, and he as now confirmed that a Modern Warfare 2 OST is in the works and will be released as an album.
Zimmer made the announcement on his Facebook page, saying:
“Modern Warfare 2 soundtrack album is in the works”
Yep, expect more details from Activision soon.

Halo is the kind of game that you either love or hate but one things for sure, the entire Halo franchise has beautiful music. Those who share the same views as me will be happy to hear that the official Halo 3: ODST soundtrack will be hitting store shelves on September 22nd.
The 2-disc Halo 3: ODST sound track will feature sounds from Marty O’Donnel and Michael Salvatori and is said to showcase the series’ new direction with ODST. Marty O’Donnell comments:
“I’m happy to be able to share all new compositions and recordings created for Halo 3: ODST. The music reflects the new mood, new heroes, and new story of the game. I worked with the Northwest Sinfonia for the orchestral recordings and also added some nice alto sax solos and some new guitar solos. The piano sneaks back in again a few times too, but I can’t seem to help that.”
To snag the soundtrack, just head over to www.sumthingdigital.com or grab it off iTunes on September 22nd.

Many genres and series get criticized for their predictability and lack of innovation; shooters, sports games, fighting games, you name it. Ever since Final Fantasy VII the JRPG genre has been somewhat cliche itself. Ever since then they’ve been filled with spiky-haired youths wielding impossibly oversized swords fighting against evil empires.
The soundtracks are often equally predictable/interchangeable. An enterprising individual has created his own soundtrack for a JRPG known as Ebben Flow, a fantasy adventure where rising water levels have submerged most of the world. The kicker is that this game doesn’t exist, but Kotaku reader Michael Chadwick created a fifteen-track soundtrack which you can download.
