Any Star Wars fan knows that the greatest Star Wars film, and one of the best sci-fi films ever, was The Empire Strikes Back, released in 1980. That film was directed by Irvin Kreshner, who passed away today at the age of 87. He never received his proper credit for making that film, where most thought George Lucas ran the thing. Kreshner also directed Sean Connery as James Bond in Never Say Never Again in 1983, and also made RoboCop 2 in 1990.
We’re sure George Lucas won’t be happy about this, especially if the guy tries to sell his “game”. But it looks awesome none the less. Imagine if the Star Wars Kid had this back in the day?
If there’s a platform, Star Wars will find its way there, whether it’s cell phones, Flash games, card games — whatever, Star Wars will eventually get there. Now THQ has released Star Wars: Battle For Hoth to the iPhone. The game costs only $3 bucks, but we don’t really know how much you’ll get for your money.
Coolvibe has once again compiled a collection of great wallpapers, this time, from the Star Wars universe, from games such as The Old Republic, Republic Commando, and Empire At War. Check out the full collection here.

Are you planning on picking up EA’s forthcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic? EA sure hopes so. Analayst Bhatia recently stopped by the EA studios to check up on the game and has reported that the developers are expectign over 2 million subscribers when the game goes on sale.
This seems a bit high but Bhatia has also said that just to break even, EA is going to need over 1 million subscribers.
I don’t know about you guys but since I finally managed to ween myself off World of Warcraft, I’m not really ready to dive into another MMO anytime soon.

LucasArts has today begun accepting applications for their latest MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. However, just because they are accepting applications doesn’t mean you will be guaranteed admission.
Only after you fill out some standard information and upload a DxDiag file will LucasArts consider letting you into the beta. However, the developer has said that those who sign up earlier will have a better chance at getting accepted into the beta so if you want in, you better get on it.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has made its way onto Steam today, retailing for $9.99. The 2003 RPG was originally released on the Xbox, followed by a retail PC release not too much later.
The game is considered as one of the best Star Wars games out to date, and it’s a nice addition to the Steam library.
The third entry into the series, Star Wars: The Old Republic, is currently under development by BioWare, and will be out on PCs sometime in the future. Keep an eye out for more news updates on the official website.
The television series game tie-in, Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Republic Heroes has a new launch trailer, straight from last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con. I’ve only watched the Clone Wars cartoon once, and I didn’t exactly fall in love with the show, but I know there are fans who will enjoy this game.
LucasArts will be releasing the game onto shelves on October 6th, as opposed to a September 15th release announced back in May. The game will be published on every current generation console, including the PC and PS2.
