No one likes people who talk too much. Nor do the people at Atari, who have released a patch for Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, fixing a crashing bug, solving one multiplayer issue and a case of too much talking.
Below is the patch note. Grab the patch from the developers.
- Multiplayer – User is unable to join an online session hosted by a patched game or a game with downloaded content and message "Blahblah" is displayed.
- Multiplayer – User is unable to join an online session if the port is not forwarded to 30000. This causes the message "session no longer exists" to be displayed.
- Assault on Dark Athena – Game crashes on throwing the guards body into the rotating fan.
From Shacknews comes word that EA is resurrecting Bullfrog’s classic isometric sci-fi action series Syndicate.
They indicate that Starbreeze (Riddick: Dark Athena) is working on the project, referring to their partnership with EA on Project RedLime, which they claim was teased as a revival of one of EA’s “most acclaimed classic franchises.”
The game is being developed for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It is not known if original producer Peter Molyneaux will work on the project.
A playable demo for The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena has been released on Xbox Live. Gold account holders can download it now, though Silver account users will have to wait for a couple of days to be able to download it.
Dropping in at 639MB, the demo offers a sample from the “Athena Main Decks” level, implying that it is probably taken from the new campaign rather than the remade Escape from Butcher Bay campaign that is also featured in the game.
A PS3 demos is expected to drop on PlayStation Network sometime this month. PC users will also see a demo, though no release date estimate was givne.
Developed by Starbreeze, the full game will hit PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on April 7.

Making quite a splash, Atari has announced that the upcoming remake of The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena will feature new content that amounts to a 10-hour single-player sequel.
Joystiq reports that the new campaign packs “new game mechanics, full game production values… the works,” with Big Download noting that it is a direct sequel to the original and will be immediately accessible upon booting the game.
Apparently, the game’s delay has been the cause for the new content. When Sierra dropped the game and Atari picked it up, it gave them nine months to work on new content.
The upcoming title will feature a new multiplayer mode and an enhanced version of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay. It is due out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in Spring 2009.
