When you think fighting games there may be many that come to mind but at the head of the pack are none other than Tekken and Street Fighter. Both of these games have been around for quite some time being pushed out by Namco and Capcom respectively. However, as you’re sure to know, Capcom is looking to push out a game dubbed Street Fighter X Tekken which is an entirely new IP from what we’ve seen out of the company in the past.

Well, if you thought that Street Fighter X Tekken was all Cpacom had planned for 2012 you’d be wrong. The reason I say this is because the company has just let us know that they actually have a second all new IP planned for release in 2012. Of course, there is virtually no information known about what this game will be like but it’s definitely something to keep on your radar.

What do you think Capcom has planned?

There are many different video game genres on the market meaning just about anyone will be able to find one for them. Hardcore gamers looking for high paced, intense, nonstop action may look towards the fighting genre to fill their needs. Lucky for them, there is no shortage of fighting titles on the market with big names like Street Fighter and Tekken leading the pack.

In fact, it seems that gamers tend to take either the Tekken or Street Fighter side as both games feature considerably different control schemes while also sharing their own respective pros and cons. But, what if you’re stuck in the middle and just can’t decide which you like better? Well, lucky for you there is a game coming out dubbed Street Fighter X Tekken that combines the best of both games developed under the watchful eye of Capcom.

While we’ve hard of the game in the past not a whole lot has been said regarding what it’s to contain. Luckily, Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono has recently taken to Twitter to let us know that there will be rather large announcement regarding Street Fighter X Tekken coming following the US launch of the Nintendo 3DS. Unfortunately we aren’t quite sure as to what exactly the announcement will be regarding but considering we haven’t heard of a solid release date let’s hope it has something to do with that.

And for those wondering (aka living under a rock) the Nintendo 3DS is set to hit store shelves in the United States on March 27th so be sure to stay glued to DigitalBattle shortly after where we’ll be telling you all about the announcement.

Katsuhiro Harada, the director of Tekken 6, had some interesting things to say about bringing a Tekken game to the Wii in an interview with GamePro. When asked if Tekken 5 or Tekken 6 would be heading to the Wii any time soon, he said, “That would be very interesting. Like the Xbox 360 owners, if Wii owners are passionate and make it known they really want the series on their system, we would love to be able to answer that request.”

There has been a serious lack of quality fighting games for the Wii as compared to the other consoles. In fact, the only Tekken game that has been released for any Nintendo system at all is for the Gameboy Advance. “Hearing about the huge number of Xbox 360 owners who are Tekken fans, especially in North America, definitely played a huge part in influencing us to bring the game to that system,” the director said.

So, it’s pretty much up to the fans to voice their opinion about why there’s no Tekken for the Wii yet. For any naysayers about the controls of the said system, Harada had to say, “…the standard controller lacks the right number of buttons and the placement is awkward, so… I suppose the classic controller could handle it!”

Tekken 6 will be heading to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 27th.
