The sequel for the comic book game The Darkness is now under development by Starbreeze Studios, as announced by a Comic-Con panel last weekend. British comic book writer Paul Jenkins will be writing the story for first-person-shooter.
In addition to this news, a Greatest Hits version for the original game has been announced, lowering the price point to a very reasonable $29.99.
No release date has been announced for either the sequel or Greatest Hits.

The sleuths at Crispy Gamer have uncovered that a sequel to The Darkness may be in production. This comes from the CUSP 2008 conference profile for Paul Jenkins, a popular comic book writer whose resume includes writing credits on Marvel’s Civil War series, Wolverine, Spider-Man and more.
Jenkins’ profile notes that he is “currently working on a sequel to The Darkness,” but doesn’t offer any details. It can be taken as a direct confirmation that the game may very well be in production, probably with the story being fleshed out at the moment.
The site contacted 2K Games for a response, which they received: the publisher did not confirm or deny the story, stating that they “simply don’t have anything to say at this point.” What that means is that a sequel is indeed in the works.
