Fans of Tim Schafer’s Brutal Legend will be glad to hear that EA has just announced that the game’s latest DLC Hammer of Infinite Fate is set to hit Xbox Live and the Playstation Network on December 17th.
Included in Hammer of Infinite Fate is the Oculus of the Lost which, according to Joystiq, is a Deuce upgrade that allows you to see every collectible on the map in addition to 4 brand new multiplayer maps and new outfits for Eddie.
PS3 owners can expect to pay $4.99 for the DLC while Xbox 360 owners will be paying 480 Microsoft Points.

We haven’t heard much about Tim Schafer’s Brutal Legend for a while now but it looks like EA has gone ahead and decided to release the above box art for said game.
Those looking to play the rock-inspiried action-adventure Brutal Legend will be able to get their hands on the Double Fine Productions developed game on October 13th for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Promising to “melt your face off”, developer Double Fine and EA today announced that Brutal Legend will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 13 in North America, followed by an European release three days later.
"Wooo! Having an official release date is awesome!" said Double Fine president Tim Schafer. "And how cool is it that EA threw down the dough to have the name of an entire month changed to Rocktober?"
The heavy metal-themed game tells the story of roadie Eddie Riggs as he enters the realm “where every Heavy Metal album cover and lyric Eddie knows has come to life.”
Going out on a limb, Double Fine programmer Klint Honeychurch has created an adventure game based around company founder Tim Schafer’s hosting gig at the upcoming IGF/GDC Choice Awards.
Dubbed Host Master and the Conquest of Humor, the game is centered around Schafer’s inability to think of jokes for the event. The fully-playable game was made in the style of classic adventure games, featuring a point-and-click interface and floating text.
Schafer’s real event will be held on Wednesday at 6.30pm PST.
With the integration of Vivendi Games into Activision, the future of Brutal Legend was left uncertain. Thankfully, EA came to the rescue, announcing that they will publish Tim Schafer’s heavy metal third-person action/adventure game through its EA Partners label.
“This is awesome news!” said Double Fine Productions president Tim Schafer. “The quality and creativity of the games EA Partners has been involved with make it a perfect home for our baby, Brutal Legend. Some people were starting to wonder if the saga of Eddie Riggs would ever see the light of day, but now I think it’s clear that this game, like Metal itself, cannot be killed!”
The game stars rocker Jack Black as the main character who finds himself in a fantasy world filled with heavy metal and rock folklore. It is due out for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 in Fall 2009.
With music at its core and Jack Black playing the lead role, it seemed like Brutal Legend was a natural fit for MTV. However, Variety reports that it isn’t the case, as the company has issued a rather political statement saying the following: “We are big fans of [Double Fine chief] Tim Schafer. We hope the game finds a good home.”
The author notes that this directly contradicts what he was hearing. Nevertheless, Kotaku reports a rumor that EA will publish the game. It is yet to be confirmed by either parties.
