Well folks that’s it, the newest Call of Duty has been announced and it is to be officially entitled Call of Duty: Black Ops, the same name that has been rumored for some time now. Well, we don’t have any gameplay videos or screen shots for you, yet, but we do have some details.

First of all, players will take the role of a Black Ops operative (obviously) and will be dropped into missions that take place in various locations including Vietnam, Cuba and the Arctic. Unfortunately, we haven’t gotten word of any Nazi Zombie remake but considering it’s being developed by Treyarch, I’d say it would be safe to assume that we will see some reiteration of the popular game type in Black Ops.

Oh yeah, we also know that it’s hitting store shelves for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 14th of this year. Hell, you can even get your pre-order in already.

It seems like Modern Warfare 2 only just came out but that hasn’t stopped Activision and Treyarch from working on the next title. In fact, Activision exec Mike Griffith has recently said that this holiday season we will see the release of Call of Duty 7. However, there were absolutely no details given about what the game will contain.

MW2 addicts need not worry about being abandoned as Activision and Infinity Ward will still be supporting the game with new marketing efforts and, of course, loads of DLC.

Now, let the speculation over where CoD 7 will take place begin! Vietnam, anyone?

Modern Warfare 2 has been out for some time now so it’s start to think about the next Call of Duty which will be developed by Treyarch. Consdering World War II has been so ridiculously played out and overused it wouldn’t make sense for them to base Call of Duty 7 during that era, but then what is left?

Well, rumors have begun circulating that Treyarch will in fact be basing CoD 7 during the Vietnam war. Of course, there have been virtually no official announcements regarding the matter so we’ll have to wait until Activision or Treyarch says something about it.

And, for those of you that don’t know, Treyarch is the studio behind Call of Duty: World at War while Infinity Ward is the studio behind Modern Warfare 2, got it?
