
Ubisoft has had a pretty good footing in Canada with studios in Quebec, Vancouver and Montreal and are looking to expanding that footing even further.
Recently announced is Ubisoft Toronto a studio that will open in the heart of Ontario and create an additional 800 jobs, reportedly over the next decade.
It seems that Ubisoft Montreal’s CEO Yannis Mallat will be the main man behind Ubisoft Toronto and help the studio work on “Triple-A games” along with working with the film production industry which is prominent in Ontario.

It looks like Microsoft is again looking to expand this time announcing plans to acquire Vancouver, Canada-based game developer BigPark. Apparently, Microsoft has been working with this developer for some time now getting ready to release an Xbox 360 exclusive.
There is no word on how much the deal will go down for or what game Microsoft and BigPark have cookin’ but E3 is right around the corner
For those who weren’t aware, BigPark was started back in 2007 as a collaboration of former EA and Distinctive Software executives.

Sega has recently announced that a game, based on the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, is already under development.
Eurocom was said to be developing the game, whom you may recognize as the studio who also worked on the Beijing ’08 game. This game, however, will include all sorts of winter sports like, well, skiing. Hell, it even lets you ski in first person.
Sega’s 2010 Vancouver Olympics based video game will be released to coincide with the event in 2010 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
