Sega has announced the latest installment in their Virtua Tennis franchise, Virtua Tennis 4 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. The game will support motion controls on all three platforms, with the regular Wiimote support, Xbox 360′s Kinect and PlayStation 3′s Move. Virtua Tennis 4 will include a new career mode called “World Tour”, and will be out later this year.

Sega confirmed today that Virtua Tennis 2009 will be taking advantage of the Wii MotionPlus technology. The accessory will allow players to have more responsive and accurate control of the game. In this case, players will be able to control their tennis racket more accurately.

How Virtua Tennis will compare to EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis will be interesting, but I’ll be rooting for Sega’s creation, only because the past games have been received so well.

Virtua Tennis 2009 will be hitting the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and PC on May 19th.

When I first played Wii Tennis I thought to myself, “This is good, but it could be so much better.” Well, it seems my wishes have been granted.

It was recently confirmed that Sega’s upcoming Virtua Tenis will make use of Nintendo’s semi-new MotionPlus hardware.

But what does this really mean? Well it means a much more realistic tennis game is in the works and will be hitting your Wii sometime in the future. Too bad release date and even the developer of the new Wii Virtua Tennis is under wraps.
