Nintendo has long been one of the most successful video game companies on the market. This success can easily be seen with the Nintendo Wii which took a large lead over Microsof’ts Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3. However, Nintendo isn’t looking to ride on the success of the Wii forever as they’ve already come forth to announce the Wii U and release the Nintendo 3DS.

While the Wii U won’t be out for quite some time the Nintendo 3DS has been on the market for quite some time. Unfortunately though, the 3D display touting portable hasn’t given Nintendo the same success they’ve seen with previous releases like the Wii and Nintendo DS. Due to this, NIntendo came forth not too long ago to announce that they would be dropping the price tag of the Nintendo 3DS.

To make the deal even sweeter, Walmart has come forth today to let us know that they are stocking the Nintendo 3DS for just $169.99. Now, you may be thinking: “isn’t this the same price drop that Nintendo announced not too long ago?”. Yes, but the official Nintendo price cut wasn’t set to go into effect until August 12th. Check out Walmart’s listing for the discounted portable here.

Whenever a video game developer treads in sketchy waters it’s inevitable that they are going to cause some controversy. If you’ve seen pretty much any information regarding Duke Nukem Forever you’ll know that the game includes material that is definitely some reason for controversy. In fact, it seems that the game has caused so much controversy that a group of people have seen reason to petition Walmart to not sell the game.

The basis of this petition rests on the fact that Duke Nukem Forever is a “sexist” game pointing mainly towards its ‘Capture the Babe’ gametype. Shelby Knox, a petitioner, had this to say:

“In this disturbing version of ‘capture the flag’ the player is tasked with kidnapping a woman from his enemy’s base, throwing her over his shoulder, and carrying her back to his base to share the spoils.”

While I definitely see where Knox is coming from petitioning Walmart to not sell the game is, in my opinion, a bit far. If Knox doesn’t like the game, I’d say the logical step would be to not buy the game herself.

What do you think? Should Duke Nukem Forever be boycotted?

The Nintendo 3DS’ March 27th US release date is just a few days away which means gamers everywhere are gearing up to get their hands on the console. While it’s not exactly the most expensive console in the world when you add its $250 cost to the library of $40 games you’re sure to buy costs are sure to get quite high. Luckily, various retailers are holding deals that look to sooth the woes just a bit allowing gamers to get their hands on the glasses-free 3D display touting portable console without break the bank as much.

For example, if you feel you can part ways with your Nintendo DS once you get your hands on the 3DS you may want to consider picking i tup at Walmart. The reason I say this is because it was just made known that Walmart will be allowing gamers to trade in their Nintendo DS consoles towards the purchase of a 3DS. Details are a bit scarce but they will apparently be accepting up to two DS consoles for a total of $200 credit. Of course, what you get will largely depend on which model you have as trading in a DSi XL is sure to fare much better than a first generation DS.

Who’s looking to grab the Nintendo 3DS on march 27th?

Sony’s PlayStation 3 remains one of the most popular home video game consoles on the market today despite stark competition from Microsoft with the Xbox 360 and Nintendo with the Wii. However, if you’re looking to go for the highest end bundle chances are you’ll be breaking the bank a bit. Luckily various retailers have been known to cut us a break from time to time making the price tag of products like this.

In fact, it was just made known that Walmart will be selling a 320GB PS3 complete  with PlayStation Move for just $350 provided you’re willing to get it shipped to your local store. For those wondering, that’s a full $50 off the normal price tag. Alongside the PlayStation Move this bundle includes Sports Champions so you’ll have something to play without having to actually buy a game.

THQ and Kaos Studios recently came forth on March 15th to release Homefront. If you’re not aware this first person shooter pits gamers against a North Korean invasion of the United States. Of course, seeing how the premise is a bit of a sensitive one, controversy has been brought to the from but the general consensus is that the game is pretty good. If you’re one who is looking to get down on the game but dont’ want to spend  the full $60 – you’re in luck.

It was made known today that both Amazon.com and Walmart will be offering the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of THQ’s Homefront for just $42. We’re not exactly sure how long they will be offering the game at this price for so if you’re looking to get down on it you better do so fast.

Microsof’t Xbox 360 has long been applauded for its top notch online service appropriately dubbed Xbox Live. While this service requires users to pay a subscription fee, Microsoft prides themselves in offering consumers a grade-A experience. Not only that, but thanks to some deals from retailers, the subscription fee isn’t half bad.

In fact, Walmart has just announced today that they will be offering 1-year of Xbox Live plus a game of your choice for $81. Now you’re probably assuming you only get to choose from a line up of crappy games, but that’s not the case. Included in the line up of games that qualify for this deal include Halo: Reach, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, just to name a few.

This is a great deal as a 1-year Xbox Live subscription usually goes for $60 alongside these games which go for $60 as well.

If you’ve read pretty much any major publication over the past decade you’ll know that Walmart has been faced with some troubles. However, it remains one of the most successful businesses in the entire world. GameStop, which you’re probably a lot more familiar with, has grown to pretty much take over video game retail across the entire United States.

This is all relevant because it was just made known that GameStop’s CFO, Catherine Smith, has resigned from the retailer to join Walmart. CAO, Robert Lloyd will take Smith’s place, effective immediately.

There’s no telling why Smith ditched the video game retailer to join ultra retailer Walmart but I’m sure money had something to do with it.

Count this one as one of the really good offers you can get this holiday season: when you purchase a $199 Xbox 360 Arcade at Walmart, they’ll give you a $100 gift card, which you can use on games, accessories, or whatever else Walmart has to offer (which is a lot).

Forking over another $35, alongside the gift card, will get you a hard drive for your Arcade console — still a great deal. But hurry, there’s a limited amount of offers per store.

Now, we’ve seen several Modern Warfare 2 commercials that show off things like multiplayer gameplay and the game’s plot but Walmart‘s commercials puts a bit of a spin on things.

Included above is said commercial where 2 guys are talking about the game and, of course, talking shit to eachother just like you could expect online when Modern Warfare 2 hits store shelves for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 10th.

Check it out and let us know what you think.
